Miya Akselgaard is an attorney with a broad litigation and dispute resolution practice, with a particular focus on construction and infrastructure disputes. She has extensive experience advising on complex disputes arising from both public and private construction projects.
Miya has represented Danish and international clients in some of Scandinavia’s most significant construction disputes, including matters relating to major infrastructure projects and large-scale public developments. Her practice covers the full range of contentious construction matters, from contractual disputes and project failures to termination and compensation.
She also advises clients on distressed construction projects, where legal, commercial and operational interests must be addressed simultaneously. In such situations, Miya works closely with the parties involved to establish a constructive framework for cooperation, protect her client’s position and, to the greatest extent possible, maintain progress on the project while the underlying legal issues are resolved.
Miya has extensive advocacy experience before the Danish Building and Construction Arbitration Board, arbitral tribunals constituted under the Danish Institute of Arbitration, ad hoc arbitral tribunals and the Danish courts, including the High Courts.
In addition to her construction practice, Miya represents businesses and private clients in a broad range of commercial disputes and negotiations, including disputes involving public authorities.
Miya is particularly valued for her strategic and pragmatic approach to complex disputes, combining strong legal analysis with a clear understanding of her clients’ commercial interests.
